Elmer’s Big Parade – Summer 2019

Mini’s March at Mount Edgcumbe

We are delighted here at Mount Edgcumbe to be a part of this years’ Elmer’s Big Parade Plymouth.  For 10 weeks this summer a parade of 40 large elephants painted in amaxing and inspirational designs can be seen as pert of a trail around the Ocean City of Plymouth, the last four elephants on the trail have escaped across the river here to Mount Edgcumbe and are making the most of the Cornish Countryside.

As well as being a part of the main elephant trail, Mount Edgcumbe is delighted to be hosting the entire mini Elmer herd in the Barrow Centre at the Park.  The 25 little Elmer’s were decorated by local school children as part of an education programme exhibition

Linked to the curriculum and Arts Award, the education programme enables local schools and community groups to incorporate this iconic little pachyderm and his adventures in lessons and activities dealing with topics such as loss, making memories and diversity.

At the end of the exhibition the Young Elmers will be adopted by the schools involved in the project.  For further information visit www.elmerplymouth.co.uk
