Kate Williams Weaving

Weaving in the Park

Kate Williams Weaving studio and gallery space is upstairs at the Barrow Centre in a room with a fantastic view of the alpacas in the park. This is a lovely colourful place full of exciting textures just begging to be touched. When Kate is there, the studio and gallery are open to the public. You are welcome to wander in if you wish and share stories with Kate as she weaves. She will also explain what she is working on and how the loom works.

Kate makes traditional woven craft items such as scarves and blankets. Each piece is totally unique, she only makes a piece once.

Kate is also an artist excited by data whose textural and colourful woven sculptural artwork comments on local and global current affairs. She brings her skills as a craftsperson to her art practice drawing on her analytical and intuitive nature. Her work is usually triggered by a colourful synaesthetic response to something she feels passionate about. What she sees, she makes.

You can talk to Kate about commissioning a piece of weaving. It is wonderful to own a special textile lovingly created just for you. Or you may fall in love with something you see in the gallery and just must buy it and take it home.

Kate has been a weaver for over 20 years. She recently graduated from Arts University Plymouth achieving a Masters in Fine Art with distinction.

“Kate aims to make customers feel they own a special textile lovingly created to give them pleasure.”
