Artisan and Food Market

Join our event at the stunning Mount Edgcumbe’s Barrow Centre. We have an exclusive selection of food and artisan exhibitors selling local goods, produce and artisan foods. MOUNT EDGCUMBE AT WAR (Military Vehicle Trust Weekend)

  • MVT members Cornwall, Devon and others.
  • Sealed Knot.
  • The 1940’s Roadshow.

Cornwall area MVT extends a warm welcome to exhibitors and traders at their annual show. The event is set in the grounds of Mount Edgcumbe House, its spacious park sweeping down to the beach, overlooking Plymouth Sound.

Military vehicles of all eras are welcome, as are military and wartime displays, re-enactors, memorabilia and trade stalls. 
Be advised that all exhibitors are to remain onsite until Sunday 4:00PM

Road runs are around the estate and Rame peninsula.

Plymouth is a short passenger-ferry ride away, and the Edgcumbe Arms is just a few hundred yards down the drive.

Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September
Vintage Market.

We have an exclusive selection of exhibitors selling vintage and retro products, plus live demonstrations and music to entertain you throughout the day. This event will run alongside the ‘Mount Edgcumbe at War’ event and will be held down at the bottom of the Park. Sunday 17th September – 10.30am – 1.30pm
Introduction to Home Fragrances

In this workshop you will discover the different methods you can use to distribute scents in your home. You will be introduced to a variety of essential oils and fragrance oils and will learn how to formulate a blend that is functional as well as fragrant. All equipment and materials will be provided. £25.00 per person. Booking is essential, limited places available. Not suitable for children or persons with perfume allergies.

Kanghyo LEE – In Performance

A truly unique live art performance by Master Korean Ceramicist Kanghyo LEE. Visitors to Mount Edgcumbe park will be able to watch as he hand builds one of his signature large scale vessels finishing with a live slip decoration performance on Thursday evening.

Kanghyo LEE’s ‘onggi’ building technique (involving the making of large storage jars) combined with the ‘buncheong’ surface decoration (splashing with liquefied clay mixtures in the manner of Jackson Pollock’s “action painting”) has been internationally recognized and his work is found in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago; the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco; the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Cité de la Céramique, Sèvres, France; Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum, Korea and more.

Monday 18th to Thursday 21st: the artist will be working on the front terrace of Mount Edgcumbe House each day, except Wednesday afternoon, between approximately 10AM and 4PM.

Wednesday 20th, the artist  will talk about his work in the main lecture Theatre at approximately 5:30PM at Plymouth College of Art. This is a free event open to all members of the public.

Thursday 21st: the project will culminate in a live slip decorating performance on the front terrace of Mount Edgcumbe House at approximately 6:00PM.

Saturday 7th & Saturday 14th October – 10.30am-12.30pm
Learn the Craft of Crochet

A friendly two week course for beginners. In the first two hour session you will learn how to hold your yarn and hook, and how to form the basic stitches needed for crochet creations. Having had time to practice, at our second meeting we will have a look at pattern reading skills needed to craft a traditional granny square. A kit will be provided with hook, yarn and instructions to get you started. Places are limited, so early booking is essential £25p.p.

Halloween Hunt

Put on your most spooktacular costume and come and join in the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe scary event this Halloween. There will be a fancy dress competition for all ages – young and old held at 2pm in front the house, followed by a scary scavenger hunt down through the woods. £2.50 to take part, registration from 12noon at the Belvedere room in the Barrow Centre. Christmas Fayre

Back for the thirteenth year, and still fabulous! The fayre will run 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
