Learn the Craft of Crochet
A friendly two week course for beginners. In the first two hour session you will learn how to hold your yarn and hook, and how to form the basic stitches needed for crochet creations. Having had time to practice, at our second meeting we will have a look at pattern reading skills needed to craft a traditional granny square. A kit will be provided with hook, yarn and instructions to get you started. Places are limited, so early booking is essential £25p.p.

History and Heritage of the Earl’s Garden
Discover all about the beautiful Earl’s Garden here at Mount Edgcumbe and what’s hidden away in all the nooks and crannies. Starting at 11.30am the talk will last approximately 1hr. Tickets cost £5.00 per person and should be booked in advance. Tickets include entry to the House after the talk.

Why not make a little felted Teddy as a Father’s Day gift. In this workshop you will learn how to make a small jointed Teddy bear using 100% Nordic wools and a needle felting technique. This workshop is not considered suitable for children. A short lunch break will be taken 12.30 – 1pm (please bring a packed lunch). Ticket £20.00 p.p.

Green Man Event
The Green Man is back for the 5th year – bringing the rebirth of the natural world with him.
Created by artists and volunteers his massive figure will preside over a joyous two day event celebrated by the bands Black Friday and Harbottle and Jonas. This free family festival includes such wonders as medieval knights in shining armour; archery for all; a celebration of British wildlife; circus acts; hog roasts; the ArrowBarrows; Lodestone Morris and a mixture of food and craft stalls. There may even be a Viking attack or two…
Entry to the event is free of charge – all day parking £5 per vehicle.

The Southwest PaddleFest
PB Adventures are very excited to announce this great opportunity to gather the whole family and enjoy a fantastic social weekend in the great outdoors.
Taking place in the magnificent setting of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park situated within South East Cornwall, an area of outstanding natural beauty, this not for profit charity event in support of Penhaligon’s Friends for bereaved children brings together all kayakers, canoeists and stand-up paddle board enthusiasts, friends and their families.
For the paddlers there will be a variety of water activities for all abilities and disciplines including a sit on kayak fishing competition. Specialists in their fields including our very own World Record Holder Pete Bray complete with his extraordinary Atlantic crossing kayak, DIY kayak, canoe and SUP builders display’s and demos and a variety of commercial outlets.

Going Bats at Mount Edgcumbe
Join us for a nocturnal adventure and let our colonies of bats be your guide. With rare species calling Mount Edgcumbe home, you could be in for a real treat with this expedition. Meeting on the terrace at the front of the house at 8pm, the walk will take approx. 2-3 hours and finish off with hot soup and cost £5.00 p.p. Please make sure that you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear for the walk.

Hats and Flowers Crochet Workshop
Learn how to create a basic beanie hat, and how to make flowers to decorate it with. You will need to bring 3 – 3.5 mm hook and 70 – 100 gms of double knit yarn in a colour of your choice. A variety of colours will be provided to create a contrasting flower with which to embellish your hat when finished. Tickets £15.00 p.p. limited places, booking is essential

MOUNT EDGCUMBE AT WAR (Military Vehicle Trust Weekend)

Cornwall area MVT extends a warm welcome to exhibitors and traders at their annual show. The event is set in the grounds of Mount Edgcumbe House, its spacious park sweeping down to the beach, overlooking Plymouth Sound.
Military vehicles of all eras are welcome, as are military and wartime displays, re-enactors, memorabilia and trade stalls. Be advised that all exhibitors are to remain onsite until Sunday 4:00PM
Road runs are around the estate and Rame peninsula.
Plymouth is a short passenger-ferry ride away, and the Edgcumbe Arms is just a few hundred yards down the drive.

We have an exclusive selection of exhibitors selling vintage and retro products, plus live demonstrations and music to entertain you throughout the day. This event will run alongside the ‘Mount Edgcumbe at War’ event and will be held down at the bottom of the Park. Put on your most spooktacular costume and come and join in the Friends of Mount Edgcumbe scary event this Halloween. There will be a fancy dress competition for all ages – young and old held at 2pm in front the house, followed by a scary scavenger hunt down through the woods. £2.50 to take part, registration from 12noon at the Belvedere room in the Barrow Centre.
