Captain Blake’s Retreat
Overlooking the expanse of Whitsand Bay, this luxury getaway is the latest holiday property at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park on The Rame peninsula, known to locals as ‘the forgotten corner of Cornwall’.
Captain Blake’s Retreat is nestled next to a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A short walk from the parking area, the retreat offers amazing views across the entire bay. Standing on the cliff high above the beautiful beach, with no near neighbours the breath-taking views of the sea and sky that stretch as far as the eye can see, makes Captain Blake’s the perfect choice for a romantic escape.
If you want to take time away from todays hectic lifestyle then this is certainly the place for you.

Fantastic location, beautiful property, wonderful views and very dog friendly! It was a pleasure to just open the front door and have so many walking opportunities! We can’t wait to re-book for next year!
A wonderful and comfortable cottage set in an outstanding location. You have the best of both worlds the incredible country park to walk and explore with its amenities and the waterfront where you can see the ships, boats and historic Plymouth. The ferry to Plymouth and its attractions are within a short walk. The park and cottage were so lovely we hardly left it for the whole week. Our dog was in her element.
We had an excellent holiday in what were difficult circumstances. The cottage is lovely, the views from the lounge window and the viewing platform are excellent. The Orangery Cafe was open so we had several tasty meals that we were able to take back to the cottage. Early morning and late evening walks through the historic gardens are quiet and peaceful because the gates to that area are still locked. It feels as though it is your private property. We will be back when normality returns.
Great position in a lovely park with lots of walks from the door. Has a great garden platform that has fantastic views across to the Royal William Yard. Lots to see if you love boats and wildlife. Close to the Cremyll ferry.
Such lovely accommodation for 2 in a fantastic setting. Within the orangery grounds and right on the waterfront. Pub and shale beach less than 100 metres away. We had our dog with us and we all enjoyed the walks on the estate and to Rame peninsular. We look forward to returning in the future.
Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location. A great alternative to Cremyll Lodge and I’m sure that we will back to stay again
