Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team
Struggling for numbers this week, Dave and Wes playing half a game each, struggling also to get run outs. A couple of fumbles by wicket keeper Allan and a throw from Ollie ten feet over Allan’s head just three of the many chances wasted. Pete did come good in the end securing two with assists from Ben and Dave. Ollie carried his bat for 49*, Ben missed out on his third century of the season by 8 runs and a spectacular catch by Andrew off his own bowling meant the game was always in our control!
Dan and Ben failed to get any wickets in their opening spells, but the introduction of Andrew and Pete, who both bowled a 12 over spell and picked up three wickets apiece. Dave struggled to get a wicket but Ben picked up 2 when he came back for a second spell, albeit expensive with 2 for 41.
Ben and Ollie batted well, with an opening partnership of 158, the best of the season and Ben’s fifty came off 36 balls in 35 mins. Wes missed his chance swinging across the line and was bowled for 1, Andrew joined Ollie and scored the winning runs, denying Ollie his fifty but winning the game by eight wickets.
