Cricket Match Report – 16th June 2019

Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team

We found ourselves in a unusual position this week, having to take the field first. 3 or 4 dropped catches later, Chris another dolly, giving some of their batsmen a second or even third life. Chris did pick up a couple wickets, but they looked in good shape at 117 for 3. Josh and Ben bowled well, but were unlucky picking up a wicket apiece and Andrew and Dave chipped in with 1 and 2 wickets respectively. Tom P finished them off with 3 wickets in 9 balls, remember he is on a hat trick the next time he bowls. A good fight back to restrict PCO’s to 173 all out.

A bad start, Andrew bowled out of the footholes behind his legs, third ball, Wes run out, ninth ball, 0 for 2, a mountain to climb. Jon redeemed himself for running out Wes with a stand of 83 with Ben (45) and going on to complete his fifty in 67 balls, Tom V was just getting into his stride when he was bowled for 20 and then 4 more quick wickets then fell including another run out, 133 for 8. A rear guard action was required, Dave 6* (31 balls) and Josh 1 (26 balls) provided it. When Josh was out in the last over it just meant Chris had three ball to face with a bruised hand as a result of his second dropped catch. He survived and we finished on 142 for 9, honours even.
