Good bowling restricted the visitors to 173, Dan picked up the first, Tom got one and Toby and Dave with 2 apiece.
After tea a quick 21 from Ben and 55 from Jon, put us in a promising position at 109 for 3, Jon’s fifty off 58 balls in 43 mins. The loss of three further wickets for 1 run in 4 overs, changed everything and with one of last weeks heroes, Allan, falling for a duck soon afterwards it was time to see out the last 8 over for the hope of a draw. Will and Toby were doing this until a mix up on the calling resulted in Will being run out, Dan then joined Toby at the crease. Some of Toby’s shot choices were interesting, switch hits, ramp shots, the latter causing his demise with 1 ball to go. But with two injured batsmen still to get to the crease a draw was secured. Dan finish on 3 * off 32 balls, a fine effort.
So Ben can step down from his short spell of captaincy undefeated, well done. Thanks to the players for the teas, and once again Sue for helping out. Thanks to Ben for sponsoring the match ball
