Cricket Match Report – 21st July 2019

Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team

Runs, Runs and more Runs, what happened to the days when scores of 140 guaranteed a win!

I was going to chastise Ben for dropping his second sitter in two weeks, when he pulled off a spectacular Stokesesque catch !

Batting first we lost Luke for 29 and Ben for 23 before Andrew reached his fifty off 70 ball in 74 mins. Tom came to the crease and clipped the first ball off his toes for 4 and with partnerships of 78 with Andrew and 67 with Nuruz, reached his maiden fifty off 59 balls in 72 mins. Andrew was third out for 99 and Nuruz for 31, which left Michael to get a golden.

Runs flowed steadily and wickets not so after tea and the opposition were always around the required run rate. Ben’s catch on the boundary, saved six runs and ended their chances of winning, so they shut up shop for the last two overs to secure a draw. Dan picked up 3 wickets and Tom parried two catches behind the stumps, Andrew taking the first rebound and Tom reclaiming the second.
