Cricket Match Report – 26th May 2019

Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team

Good to welcome Ollie back to Barrow Park and he enjoyed his return by scoring a hundred. Ben failed again with the bat, Andrew had another cameo role, Dan’s bowling was unplayable, Allan took two catches behind the stumps but then Ben popped up to take the last two wickets with consecutive balls to see us home to victory.

Batting first Ollie’s hundred came off 94 balls in 126 minutes he shared a third wicket partnership of 118 with Dave (30) and a fourth of 47 with Luke (16). Nurez Zaman played well for his run a ball 22 and Andrew hit 20* off 11 balls with the tail creating ninth and tenth wicket partnerships for the first time this season. We declared on 227 for 9.

Dan opened the bowling and with 12 runs coming off edges through a heavily packed slip cordon, he still managed to finish his spell with 4 for 13. Other wicket takers included Chris 1, Tom 2, Andrew 1 and Ben 2. Once again a stubborn 7th wicket stand lasting 13 overs threatened to deny us victory, but as Tom made the breakthrough and with Andrew picking up the 8th wicket, Ben came on and wrapped up the tail with a bizarre hit wicket to win the game, hat trick next ball?

A someone mentioned yesterday, seven games seven different wicket keepers!
