Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team
After loosing an early wicket, the visitors scored quickly reaching 99 in the 18th over before the second wicket fell. Injuries to Chris (wicket keeper) finger and Andrew knee meant more work for the other fielders but they stuck to the job well, as we achieved the first run out of the season thanks to George assisted by Luke. However the batsman did have a runner, which often leads to confusion. With the introduction of spin from Dave and Rich, who picked up 3 apiece we were through their tail and they were all out for 205. Another tidy bowling performance with only two extra balls(wides) being bowled.
In contrast we got off to a slower start, from which we did not recover, in spite of some good knocks from Andrew, Chris Lomas and Richard, whose 50 came off 57 balls in 57 mins. They set very defensive fields from early on meaning we were always having to play catch up, which we failed to do. The innings closing on 172 for 6, the result a drawn game.
