Well, who would have believed it!
After 24 hours of heavy rain we got underway at 2.30 for a reduced 35 over game and two sides took to the field, quite literally!
Both captains, after the toss, told their side that they were fielding, so two wicket keepers and 20 players took to the pitch.
Eventually we went out to bat with Andrew and Matt putting on 139 for the first wicket, Andrew out for 72 off 63 balls, his fifty came off 50 balls in 63 mins. Martin joined Matt at the crease and Matt reached fifty off 61 balls in 66 mins and his maiden 100 for the club off 99 balls in 112 mins. He retired at the end of the over for 109, his partnership with Martin worth 76. Ben faced three balls hitting one for six, Martin finished on 32* and we closed the innings at 235 for 2.
A spirited reply from Old Sutts, including a couple of 50s and an eighth wicket that put on 55, saw them to 183 for 8 at the end of the allotted overs. Rob Lock picked up 4 wickets, with Angus and Ben getting a couple apiece, good to see Ben running in to bowl again. Once again the bowlers kept it tight with only 2 wides and 0 no balls in the innings, well done.
