Cricket Match Report – 21st April 2019

Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team

Another cracking (Easter joke) batting performance from the top order.  This week Tom passed fifty, it came off 48 balls in 46 mins and Ben carried his bat for 119 not out, his hundred off 103 balls in 108 minutes. Andrew and Mickey supported them well, however you have got to feel a little sorry for the other batsmen, for the second week in a row not getting a chance to shine. A slowish start, then the runs started to flow once Andrew was out and the opening bowlers were changed. With two partnerships of fifty plus and one of 111, nelson strikes again, we declared at 239 for 2.

In reply the visitors were steady but never threatened the target and unfortunately we were unable to take enough wickets to win the game. The first fell in the 18 over to Chris and our hopes were raised briefly when Dave and Rob took wickets in consecutive overs. The game finished in a draw with the visitors on 131 for 5.
