Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team
Luke gets off the mark with a massive straight six, Andy falls on 99 and Ben is injured again! although he is able to resume his innings and help steer us to a draw.
Wickets were hard to come by for our bowlers on an afternoon when the bat dominated. However Angus did pick up two wickets, taken with the first balls of his first and second overs. Other wicket takers saw Ben, Tom, Josh and Dave pick up one apiece, but at a cost. With four batsmen scoring 30 or more, the visitors declared at tea on 235 for 6. That’s nine of the last 10 games when the first innings score has surpassed 200 runs!
A poor start saw Tom dismissed for 0 in the second over, Ben and Andrew pushed on until Ben had to retire with with a hand injury. Wes and Luke along with Andy pushed the score on and with Ben’s return after the dismissal of Mike, the run chase was well and truly on. When Andrew was out for 99, his fifty off 58 balls in 62 minutes, with three overs to go it was time to shut up shop and play for that draw.
