Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team
A comfortable win against Holbeton, several personal bests and a return to the summer after the wet weather of tour.
Batting first several batsmen got in but were unable to convert their innings into fifties, the best being Ben on 41, Dave with 34* and Andrew and Gareth with 29 apiece, finishing on a total of 213 for 8. The second best 9th wicket partnership today, 51* between Allan and Dave, still a long way short of the best, do you remember? 105 between Steve De Villiers Graaf (76 his contribution) and Keith Jenkins against Torpoint in Sept 1996.
The opposition came out defensive and eight of the first ten overs were maidens. A word of praise for the bowlers, no wides conceded in the innings, as we are averaging 14 (2.2 extra overs) a game, this was some achievement, long may it continue. Just the byes and no balls to work on now. Eventually all out for 82, the last 30 runs gifted to three youngsters. Dave achieved the first 5 for of the season.
