Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team
MTECC v Spitchwick Sun 2 June 2019 (away)
Finishing our lunch sat in the pub and watching the rain pour down; would we be playing this afternoon? – We did!
A delayed start, a 35 over a side game, batting first again but on a damp wicket that was unpredictable, what would be a winning total?
Ollie was never likely to reproduce the hundred from last week, struggling with the lack of pace in the wicket and the slow wet outfield. He was out for nine, while Luke at the other end decided aerial was the way to go and clubbed his way to 28, including three 4s and a 6 before being caught. Tom then ran out Dan, the second time Dan has been run out this season against this team. Andrew and Manun then put on a stand of 65 taking us to 131 from 66 for 4. Mamun manage to hit six 4s in his innings only 1 less then the rest of the team. Zaman, Ahmed and Pete supported Andrew through to 51 (off 65 balls in 83 mins), before he was out LBW with the last ball. So we finished with 151 for 8, would it be enough?
In reply, they found it just as hard to score runs and with steady bowling from Pete and fiery spells from Ahmed, 1 wicket and Zaman they were well behind the required rate. Dan, Mamun and Tom then picked up wickets, and when Tom took his second in the 32 over, a run out in the 33 over and with Dan coming back on the game was over. Dan ended up with 3 wickets as they were all out for 122 in the 34 over.
Yes, 151 was enough.
