Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team vs Holberton
More dropped catches, a sitter from Dan and it would have been a sitter by Josh had he gone for it, rather than watch it fall to the ground in front of him. He could have redeemed himself with an effort later on the boundary, he got two hands to it, high above his head, held on to it for almost long enough before dropping it. The jury’s still out, although he did save 5 runs and took 2 for 5.
Batting first we struggled on the Holbeton wicket, Jon and Ben out in over three, 9 for 2. Tom V and Dan stuck around for 12 overs but found scoring difficult, Tom V was out in the fifteenth over, 28 for 3, quickly followed by Dan, Tom P and Mike, 46 for 6 at drinks. Andrew came to the wicket, having spent the last ten overs under his car, trying to release a stuck brake caliper. Stands of 34 with Dave and 64 with Allan pushed the total to 140, the last pair adding just 6 more. No eleventh man, he was stuck in Marrakesh, still would not have beaten Matt’s commute from Florida!
Dave picked up a wicket with the second ball of the innings, 0 for 1, batting was not going to be easy for the home side either. More wickets from Dave and Josh ,then Dan picked up two in his second over, followed in the next over by Josh’s second, 41 for 6. A recovery, sort of, for the next 12 overs pushed the score to 79 for 6. Three wickets from Tom V and one from Ben in the next four overs, closed the innings at 89 all out, a good bowling performance and another win.
