Latest update from the Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Team

For the third time this season batting first we reached 239, although when the two centurion openers fell in the first two overs for a combined score of 4, it did not look good. A rally for the third wicket saw Usman Tariq and Nurez Zaman put on 86 runs scoring at a run a ball, Nurez was out first for 42 and Usman followed a couple of overs later for 47. A quieter spell followed with three wickets falling in the next 11 over for only 30 run. Mamun’s 14 was the best of those three batsmen. Then Luke and Dave got together and quickly found their stride putting on 80 for the eighth wicket, with Dave being bowled for 41 and Luke finishing of 31 not out. The remaining two wickets fell quickly, Allan out after a mighty swish and Rob trying to repeat his previous ball boundary.
Two quick wickets for Ben saw the opposition in a similar position as ourselves at 5 for 2, Rob picked up a couple of wickets that let them struggling at 35 for 4. The real damage was done with the introduction of Mamun in the 18 over, but boy was he expensive, but a run out, a direct hit of one stump by Andrew and wicket is his first over, another wicket in his second, another in his third and a fourth in his next over, broke the oppositions resistance. Richard pick up the last wicket with Nurez taking his second catch. All out for 130 a win by 99 runs, revenge for last years defeat when they chased down 235 runs to win by 6 wickets.
