Identifying Colourful Waxcaps – brought to you by Family Foraging Kitchen
Saturday 2nd December
Explore these nationally important waxcap fungi grasslands found on Cornwall’s stunning Rame Peninsula by joining naturalist, Richard Penny, on a fungi identification walk across Edgcumbe Park.
A riot of colour and form, the fascinating “waxcap assemblage” of fungi is celebrated for its natural and varied beauty. These fascinating fungi are also a marvellous natural indicator of ‘unimproved’ grassland, making each colourful fruiting body a valued presence across ecological communities. On the day, you will learn how to find and identify a range of these mesmerising species, including those referred to as earth tongues, corals, pink gills, and clubs. The walk will begin at 10.00 and conclude at 13.00. Specific locations will be shared shortly after your booking is made. Please note, this is not a foraging walk
