Cricket has probably been played in Mount Edgcumbe Park since the early 19th century.
The pasture at Barrow Park could have easily been modified and levelled when the whole park and surrounding territory was robustly re-landscaped in the early 19th century. Successive Earls of Mount Edgcumbe have supported the club and in the year 1933 Mount Edgcumbe Cricket Club was formed, with the Earl as the club’s first President.
Today, the team, play friendly matches mainly on a Sunday, the majority at home in the park. The players range in age from 10 to 80 and the format of the game is timed with a tea break between innings, so a drawn result is possibly. We are always looking for new players, so pop up and have a look, or better still have a go.
