What’s on for 2019 at Mount Edgcumbe

Tai Chi for Beginners

Learn the Craft of Crochet

A friendly two week course for beginners. Week One – learn the basic stitches, take some time to practice then Week two will be all about reading the patterns. A kit will be provided with hook, yarn and instructions to get you started. Places are limited, so early booking is essential £25p.p.

Camellia Walk

This is an opportunity to join the Curator of the National Camellia Collection, held by Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, on a conducted tour of the collection that currently numbers approximately 1,000 cultivars. Meeting at Dry Walk Car Park tickets costs £5.00 p.p. Suitable walking shoes and clothing is a must on this outdoor adventure.


Saturday 9th – 1.30pm-5.00pm
Hats and Flowers Crochet Workshop

Learn how to create a basic beanie hat, and how to make flowers to decorate it with. You will need to bring 3 – 3.5 mm hook and 70 – 100 gms of double knit yarn in a colour of your choice. A variety of colours will be provided to create a contrasting flower with which to embellish your hat when finished. Places limited, so booking is essential. Tickets £15.00 p.p.

History and Heritage of the Earls Garden

Discover all about the beautiful Earls Garden here at Mount Edgcumbe and what’s hidden away in all the nooks and crannies. Starting at 11.30am the talk will last approximately 1hr. Tickets cost £5.00 per person and should be booked in advance. Tickets include entry to the House after the talk.

Green Man Event

The giant figure of the Green Man returns to Mount Edgcumbe as a centre piece looming over the event sitting on his throne of leaves and bark – he will be presiding over stalls, entertainment, refreshments and lots of activities. Entry to the event is free of charge- all day parking £5 per vehicle.

The Southwest Paddle Fest (PB Adventures)

Going Bats at Mount Edgcumbe

Join us for a nocturnal adventure and let our colonies of bats be your guide. With rare species calling Mount Edgcumbe home, you could be in for a real treat with this expedition. Meeting on the terrace at the front of the house at 8pm, the walk will take approx. 2-3 hours and finish off with hot soup and cost £5.00 p.p. Please make sure that you wrap up warm and wear suitable footwear for the walk.

The Metta Catharina von Flensburg

Learn all about the wreck of the 18th century brigantine, lost off the coast of Mount Edgcumbe in 1786 carrying a precious cargo of leather. Hear the incredible tale of the divers who discovered the wreck and spent the next 30 years battling to uncover her secrets. Tickets £5.00 p.p. and inc. entrance to the House and Earls Garden.

Enjoy the delights of the lower gardens here at Mount Edgcumbe with one of our knowledgeable staff.
